Rhode Island Wedding Guide
Wedding Hair Trends

With the gorgeous bridal gown, make up artist, and limo, feeling like a celebrity on your wedding day isn’t difficult to do.  So if you find yourself still looking for that perfect bridal hairstyle, why not take inspiration from Hollywood’s hottest stars?  Awards season is well underway and what the stars are wearing and how they’re wearing their hair creates a buzz and makes for the hottest trends. Hollywood’s finest have celebrity stylists to guide their looks, but brides-to-be can benefit from their style forecasts as well.

American Salon’s February 2011 issue interviewed some celebrity stylists and asked them to predict the hottest hair trends for spring. Let us take a look at some of the hair styles they think will be popular that may work for your wedding.

Wavy, sexy hair styles – Wavy, romantic hairstyles are also rocking the red carpet and runways. Sexy, soft waves that frame the face, reminiscent of the 30’s and 40’s, look elegant and are perfect for weddings. Wavy hair can also be pulled into an updo, letting the loose waves fall around your face.

Mad Men inspired wedding updos – No longer relegated to retro style weddings, classic updos were popular at recent awards shows and on the runways at 2011 Fashion Week. Glamorous updos have more volume and are pulled up into bouffant style.  Perfect for formal weddings, these styles never go out of style.

Messy French twist or ponytail – For updos that are a little more casual, try a messy French twist or ponytail. The messy ponytail is a ponytail in which the hair is volumized or texturized to add body and waviness. The messy French twist is a little puffy on top with some loose hair falling around the face or down the back.

Braids – Braids are a perennial favorite and can be worn in a number of different ways. Hair with a French or fishtail braid hanging loosely down the back, a tight braid used as an accent at the hair line for a hair down style, a low side braid, and even an updo of braided buns can be a great choice for a wedding do.

Choosing a wedding day hairstyle is something you want to get right.  Keep in mind that the type of headpiece, your hair length and texture can be factors in determining what hairstyle will work best for you.  Try out several different styles beforehand to achieve a super star look that will make you shine on your wedding day.
