Looking for a way to make your wedding distinctive, memorable
and authentic? Go with a theme! Theme weddings reflect the
couple's common interests and personalities. Once you've
decided on a theme, let your imagination go wild! By
carefully choosing your reception site, food, decorations,
linens, favors, entertainment and wardrobe, you can create a
special theme wedding that everyone will remember.

Celebrate
your wedding during one of your favorite holidays. Using a season
or holiday as a theme will allow you to easily decide on the
decorations, food, flowers, favors, etc. It can also save you money
because most places are already decorated for the season.

For instance, during Christmas you can decorate using little
Christmas trees spread throughout the reception site, decorate in
red and green, brighten the site up using white Christmas lights,
hang mistletoe, have a turkey dinner or beautifully wrapped gifts
as the centerpiece, even invite Santa to visit!

For a
Valentine's wedding you can decorate with heart shaped candles,
decorate with red and pink flowers, use red or pink linens, have a
heart shaped wedding cake, give each guest a heart-filled box of
candy as a favor.

Easter
is also a wonderful time to celebrate a wedding. The tulips are
blooming, the weather is getting warmer, the grass and trees are
getting greener (signs that winter is finally over!). Decorate
using pastel colors, use lilies to decorate the church and
reception site, have a nice ham dinner and, for fun, have an
Easter egg hunt!

Want
sparks to fly on your wedding night? Have a Fourth of July
wedding. Rent a tent and have a barbecue. Decorate in red, white
and blue, and hang the American flag. Be sure to have your
reception site in a location that will overlook the town's annual
fireworks. Use sparklers to decorate your wedding cake or hand
them out to your guests.

You can
have a Halloween wedding. Have everyone dress up in costumes.
Now that's a wedding to remember! The bride can be Mrs.
Frankenstein and the groom can be Frankenstein himself! Decorate
using black and orange, have jack o' lanterns as the centerpiece
for each table, decorate using gourds. Getting married in
Massachusetts during the fall is the perfect time. The foliage is
changing to bright yellows, reds and oranges. You can decorate
using pumpkins, leaves, bales of hay, pots of mums, etc.

If the
two of you happened to meet while taking boating lessons, get
married on a boat. Perhaps you met while vacationing in Hawaii or
are planning a Hawaiian honeymoon. If that is the case, have a
Hawaiian theme. If you met at work, have an occupational theme.
Both like country music and line-dancing? Have a western
wedding. Met while surfing the waves? Have your wedding on the
beach.

Once
you come up with a theme, the ideas will flow from there. Ideas
for decorating, favors, food and music will come easy. Just have
fun with it!
