Save-the-Dates for RI Weddings

Picking a wedding date is more than just a day on a calendar.  It is the date that you will exchange vows with your fiancé and will forever be celebrated. To ensure every guest you invite to the wedding is able to attend, consinder sending save-the-dates. Save-the-date announcements are especially nice if you are having a destination wedding or your wedding is over a holiday weekend.

There are a lot of differing opinions on when is the best time to send a save-the-date. A good rule of thumb is 6 - 8 months prior to the wedding, although if you are having a destination wedding, or inviting a lot of out-of-town visitors, the more time you give your guests to make travel plans, the better.

The hardest part of sending a save-the-date announcement might be picking what style you'd like to send. Couples are getting creative by having their photos taken while announcing their date in a special way like holding a banner with the date on it or with chalkboard signs that say she said yes and give the date. Some couples opt for caricature or animated versions of themselves for the card. Some send a save the date sports or concert style ticket while others use hang tag, bookmark, crossword puzzle or magnet styles.

If you don't really have a big wedding budget, don’t let that deter you. There are less expensive ways to have your family and friends save-the-date: some couples send an email version of a save-the-date; some are announcing via online social networks like Facebook. Really creative couples are even posting videos or movie trailers on YouTube or creating wedding web pages.

Although save-the-dates are not essential, it is a great way to keep guests informed and ensure they attend your wedding!
